Is Kim Kardashian a Lawyer now? She passed the ‘baby’ bar examination on her fourth attempt

American reality star, model, businesswoman, and actress, Kim Kardashian, has been working toward getting her license to practice law since 2019. If you are keeping up with the Kardashians, you know that the social media superstar wants to follow her farther’s step, Robert Kardashian, and has been vocal about her passion for criminal justice reform.

We know that Law school is time consuming. Recently, Kim Kardashian explained that she won’t begin a new venture until she has earned her law degree. In fact, she first revealed her law degree aspirations in an interview with Vogue in April 2019, saying she had begun a four-year apprenticeship with a firm in San Francisco, with the goal of taking the bar in 2022.

California, as well as three other U.S. states, offers a path to passing the bar without attending law school by “reading the law,” or apprenticing with a practicing lawyer or judge. The Bar candidate must study under a judge or lawyer for four years and must also pass the Baby Bar within three administrations after first becoming eligible to take the examination.

What is the Baby Bar?

The actual name for the baby bar is the First-Year Law Students’ Examination (FYLSE). It is administered by the State Bar of California in both June and October each year.

The baby bar is similar to the actual bar exam because it includes both essay and multiple-choice questions. The difference here is that, instead of testing all areas of law, the baby bar tests three areas of law: Contracts, Criminal Law, and Tort. The test focuses on general principles of law as opposed to the UBE.

It is actually not that easy!

The baby bar pass rate is about 20%. For the October 2019 baby bar exam, the passage rate was 22.1% (with a 29.5% passage rate for first-time takers and a 14.9% passage rate for repeat takers).

What is even more difficult here is that the candidates must pass the baby bar on their first try or within the first three administrations. If the applicant passes the baby bar after the first three times, they will still receive credit, but only for the first year (rather than receiving the full law school credit).

So, did Kim Kardashian pass the baby bar?

Kim Kardashian says she passed her first “baby bar” exam, more than two years after she announced her intention to become a lawyer in order to propel her prison reform efforts.

“I passed the baby bar exam!” the reality TV star wrote in all caps to her more than 70 million Twitter followers on Monday.

“For anyone who doesn’t know my law school journey, this wasn’t easy or handed to me,” Kardashian, 41, said.

What’s next for Kim Kardashian?

If everything goes according to plan, Kim might well be on her way to becoming a lawyer just like her late father, Robert Kardashian Sr.
