In a previous article we were reflecting on new habits we should take in response to the coronavirus crisis as companies and law schools are making remote arrangements. Staying at home is essential to fight to the spread of the virus, but keeping distance from other people — especially during a time of stress and uncertainty — can feel isolating and lonely. As an answer, we have opened a Live Chat, as part of our transition to an online community format, where people can talk to someone at any time of the day.
Maintaining your mental health during a quarantine is important for your sanity and well-being, and there are actually many things you can do during a quarantine.Â
Prior to the #COVID19 pandemic, the US was already experiencing a loneliness crisis. With the critical need for social distancing and self-quarantine to contain the spread of the virus, a lot of people are about to become very lonely. Check in on each other. #QuarantineLife

Make sure you stay in touch with people over the phone or video chat.
In order to combat some of the loneliness that comes with a quarantine, make sure you are staying in touch with friends and family on the phone or on FaceTime.Â
Moving around less during a quarantine can also lead to higher anxiety and worse mood, so try some at-home workouts.
A lack of physical activity can lead to heightened anxiety and stress levels, so trying at home workouts might be a good alternative.Â

Chat with us: we are all in this togetherÂ
Whether you work from home, or you study via online classes, we have to be creative in fighting loneliness in these time of containment. This is the reason why we have decided to transition to an online community on The International Lawyer. Soon you will be able to interact with other users and exchange your insights, stories and tips on anything from law school to career development.
Already we have successfully launched an online chat where you can chat at any time with someone. We will not only answer your question on the legal profession and law school, but we will be there for you. Feel free to share anything, even if not related to law.
Being socially distant doesn’t mean being socially separated. Even if you don’t feel isolated, feel free to connect with us and build a strong community.Â
Creating an online community
Online communities allow you to participate from your computer, tablet or mobile phone. You can share your opinions and insights anywhere, anytime and with any device. We intend to create a group of connected professionals and law students, but you don’t have to be in the legal professional to join in!
You can now chat with us by clicking on the “Chat Now” bar in the bottom right side of our page. You can also access to the chat via our direct link.
New perspectives
By distancing yourself, you’re contributing to a societal act — a collective action — that is not only protecting yourself, but protecting others. The lesson here is although we have to stay home, we don’t have to be alone when we can be alone together.Â
And so if we can see some community in that, and see some connectedness in that, then it would be a motivating and aspirational way of looking at something that is inherently difficult.
