New LL.M in Privacy Law & Cybersecurity at USC
The Los Angeles-based University of Southern California (USC) is quite renowned, not always for the good reason, but this time the Gould School of Law is breaking the news with the launch of a new LL.M program in Privacy Law and Cybersecurity, starting in fall 2020. The on-campus LLM in Privacy Law and Cybersecurity will require 24 units of study on-campus.
Privacy Law and Cybersecurity are at the forefront of current events and legislation, and it is without a doubt the next big field for legal practice. Consequently, this new degree will provide guidance for both companies and individuals in a interconnected world.
The program will mostly help students understand the risks associated with cybersecurity and related topics, and to deal with the threats that they pose.
Computer Crime Law, Information Privacy Law and Intellectual Property Law are the core courses covered by the LLM.
Other courses include National Security Law, Global Regulatory Complance and Patent Law. “More than ever before, privacy law and cybersecurity are critically important, with far-reaching implications on a global scale,” says Gould School Dean Andrew Guzman. “At the USC Gould School of Law, through our LLM in Privacy Law and Cybersecurity program, we prepare our students to become leaders and problem-solvers who can meet today’s complex legal challenges and make a difference in their professional roles.”
